We are a Qur’an and Islamic Studies school, open to all children aged between 4 and 16. We have lessons every day of the week, and have been teaching in Solihull for over twelve years. Many of our families have been with us from the beginning, building a great community.
We believe in nurturing a child’s spirituality, whilst equipping them with the tools they need to practice Islam, in modern Britain. We are blessed with a fantastic team of highly-qualified teachers, and maintain a low teacher-to-pupil ratio to ensure that every student is listened to, cared for and given the attention they deserve.

FULLY BOOKED FOR 2022-23 Sunday school is a combined Qur’an and Islamic Studies class, for ages 7-16. The lessons are structured in the same way as our weekday classes, with split-level Qur'an, followed by age-appropriate Islamic Studies, including iSyllabus, in a convenient, single session.

FULLY BOOKED FOR 2022-23 Studying Books 3 through to 6, of the Safar Academy Islamic Studies curriculum, for ages 7-11. Our Islamic Studies classes encourage children to ask questions, have fun and build a love of the deen.

FULLY BOOKED FOR 2022-23 Qaida, Tajweed and Khatm classes for students aged 7-16. We split students into small groups, by ability, not age, and all students are set homework and targets, for each term.

FULLY BOOKED FOR 2022-23 Combined Qur’an and Islamic Studies for students aged 4-7. Students begin with reading Arabic, studying the Baghdadi Qaida, and cover Safar Academy Books 1 and 2 across three years.

Ustadha Sally has taught Islamic studies and Qaida at TOP Academy for 8 years. She also has 5 years’ experience as a learning support teacher. She is a graduate of Business and International Economy, studying Islamic economics and finance, and has studied with some of the most respected Islamic scholars, currently completing her Alimah course. She has a passion for charity and leads the TOP fundraising team and acts at TOP’s community liaison, helping in interfaith events, such as the recent Edith Holden performance, and running the TOP food bank, during the national lockdown.

Ustadh Waqqas Ahmed has been teaching the Holy Quran to children and adults at TOP Academy for 8 years and is the Imam at TOP. He memorised the Quran whilst undertaking post graduate studies in Opthalmology and holds an Ijazah in Hafs Qiraat. He has completed a diploma in Islamic studies and is currently undertaking an Alimiyyah program, based on the Maliki syllabus taught in Mauritania. Usthada Ilmah has taught Quran recitation and Tajweed at TOP since 2011. She studied the fundamentals of Tajweed under Dr. Hanan Hussain, Dr Hoda Harb, Shaykh Badreldeen al Hussaini (Egypt), Shaykh Abdul Razzak Balhawan (Syria) and Shaykh Dr Daniel Jackson, before achieiving her certification in recitation (Ijaza) with Shaykh Muhammad Allam (Egypt). Ustadha Salina teaches tajweed and Qur’anic recitation to children and adults. She has studied under a number of teachers in the UK and in Damascus, including Shaykh Abdur Razzak Balhawan, and achieved her certification in recitation with Shaykh Muhammad Allam. Ustadha Meryam has taught Quran and Tajweed for many years, having gained her Ijaaza in Quran recitation in 2013 and after continuing her studies with Al-Husayn institute and Al-Jazzari Academy she gained her Ijaaza in the Shu’bah variant and Warsh variant of reading. She has also memorised the poem Tuhfatul Atfal and holds an Ijaaza in it. She completed a teacher training at Al-Furqan institute to teach the Qaidah Nooraniyah. Ustadh Saqib Hussain began his studies in 2004 with Shaykh Rasul Baksh Saeedi at the FR Institute and has also studied with Muft Yaar Muhammad at Sultan Bahu Institute.
He read Quran under Qari Tahir and Shaykh Muhammad from Yemen, and is currently studying the 10 modes of Quranic recitation under Shaykh Badreldin al Husayni and Shaykh Wahid Sabbagh al- Hallabi. Ustadh Mohsin Abbas has been a student of traditional Islam since 2004, having read scholarly texts with sheikhs in grammar, creed and jurisprudence. After graduating in the Social Sciences from the University of Birmingham, and in Arabic from the Qasid Arabic Institute in Amman, he has served as a school teacher and curriculum developer in the private sector for over a decade. He is the co-editor of an anthology of Arabic poetry, The Zephyr of Being There, and the author of an unpublished collection of shama’il stories called Meadow of the Messenger.

Usthadha May is a qualified Architect, fluent in written and spoken Arabic, and has completed Level 3 of the Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector course (PTLLS). In 2006, she became a student of TOP herself, completing all 3 Tajweed courses under the guidance of Ustadh Daniel, Usthadha Omaima, Sheikh Badreldin and Sheikh Abdurrazak Albalhawan. She now teaches TOP kids classes, Qaida and Qur’an memorisation.
